After a hiatus following the 18th cohort in 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic,
the Future Forest Green Volunteer Corps resumed its activities with an orientation session last Saturday.
For this 19th, 13 young adults of Koryo-saram (ethnic Korean) heritage residing in Korea have been selected.
They are set to visit Central Asia—specifically Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan,
where their ancestral roots lie and desertification is a serious issue.
There, they will plant trees in the "Koryo Forest" (a project being developed in collaboration with local ethnic Koreans),
embark on a historical tour to explore their heritage, and engage with the local Koryo-in community to learn about the
environment, culture, and history.
